Brood X Wing

Brood X Wing
Brood X Wing – 6/2/21, Acrylic on mixed media paper

Look, I know we’re supposed to appreciate the beauty and wonder that is the 17-year cicada PLAGUE, but I just don’t. I don’t like bugs and creepy crawlies and all that.  I do have to admit, however, that I actually do enjoy the sound of the brood; I’m aware that many people find the noise deafening and it makes them crazy.

Hmm, I guess I do actually appreciate them. Who’da thunk it?

Anyway, a wing came into the house with me one day, so I painted it. The wing was so delicate and beautiful; like holding a shining nothing between your fingers. I’m sure an experienced artist would have been able to show the light the wing captured. I tried it with white, which doesn’t at all tell the truth of it.

And yes, that’s a paint drip. I have no idea when or how it got there. I guess I should try and paint over it; I’m just not inclined to do so.
