They say we should wear socks to bed

We’ll sleep better if our feet are warm.

 

They say we should drink coffee

not drink coffee

not creamed coffee.

I drink tea in rebellion.

 

They say we should walk ten thousand steps

Well, four thousand may be enough.

 

So many Theys even They don’t agree

Still, they shove it on you and on me.

 

Here’s a thought for the WEs in the world

What if We had some shoulds of our own

 

Such as We should live life in our own ways

and dispense of all the rest

After all, weren’t we all blessed with at least some

common sense?
